CFBG was formerly called The People's PAC of the International Ministerial Alliance (IMA) in 2001. On October 16, 2003, the Assumed Name of Christians For Better Government was filed in the office of Beverly B. Kaufman County Clerk of Harris County. Later, on April 18, 2005, CFBG was issued a certificate of incorporation by the Office of the Secretary of State of Texas.
In the past, whenever funding permitted, CFBG's slates of endorsements have been published in various local newspapers including The Houston Chronicle, The Forward Times, The Houston Defender, The Houston Sun, and The El Dia Newspapers. 97-98% of the funds the PAC received was used to promote its endorsements.
Past supporters include but are not limited to the following individuals: Bill White, Annise Parker, Gordon Quan, Sandra A. Woodard, Michael C. Butler, Scott Hochberg, Jack Abercia Sr., Betty Brock Bell, Mario Gallegos, Ron Wilson, Ken Jones, Ron Hickman, Harold Dutton, John Dougherty, etc.
CFBG founding board members are Rev. Willie Wright Jr., Rev. J. C. Lewis, Sr., and Rev. C. Anderson Davis.
Periodically, members of CFBG attend various political Executive Committee Meetings and other political events.
CFBG visits candidates/officeholders web sites, facebooks, etc. for their positions on pertinent issues. Also, CFBG collects candidates/officeholders information from radio and television debates, interviews, press conferences, reports, etc. Community organizations, respected and esteemed community leaders, professors, other elected officials, etc. are also consulted. Additional data is gathered from various news articles, public forums, speeches, comments, CFBG's questionnaire, questionnaires from other PAC's and community organizations, and other published documents.
The endorsement is based primarily on the conduct of the candidate's campaign, i.e. character, conviction, courage, compassion, consistency; the issues raised (platform); past performance ( previous track record, a demonstrated commitment to the community); winnability, i.e. name i.d., funding, constituency.
